Discord is looking for a Developer advocate to build meaningful relationships with their community by engaging with their questions and ideas, by speaking at events and workshops, and by communicating their pain-points and feedback to the rest of the Apps and API team.
Discord asks the world to Imagine a Place. However, our users don't just have to imagine - they get to build that place, too. Discord apps are the bridge that lets users move from imagining a place to experiencing it. The Apps and API team is looking for a Developer Advocate to help inspire, support, and educate our growing developer community.
As a Developer Advocate at Discord, you will build meaningful relationships with our community by engaging with their questions and ideas, by speaking at events and workshops, and by communicating their pain-points and feedback to the rest of the Apps and API team.
You have a technical background and are skilled in communicating and empathizing with developers. You love coding and thinking through advanced scenarios as much as you do communicating with a large audience and a variety of partners, both technical and non-technical.
You know how to chase a good idea when you see it. Whether it's an idea for a new long-form blog post or a quick lil' demo you want to pull together, you aren't going to wait around for someone to give you approval to build what you need to do your job well.
You're able to participate in many conversations without losing the thread to any one of them. You can recap the main points on each side of a debate, even when the conversation gets heated or stretches on for days. You know how to adjust the depth and breadth of the information you share with others to match the situational context and expectations of the audience.

Discord is a voice, video and text app that helps friends and communities come together to hang out and explore their interests — from artists and activists, to study groups, sneakerheads, plant parents, and more. With 150 million monthly users across 19 million active communities, called servers, Discord has grown to become one of the most popular communications services in the world. Discord was built without selling ads or user data and instead, offers a premium subscription called Nitro that gives users special perks like higher quality streams and fun customizations.
