Founding Engineer

Create's customers launch fully functional software products faster than anyone else, putting their ideas in the hands of users effectively overnight. We're betting on a new generation of software development, in which builders describe their product using natural language, and voilà! — that product exists, ready to be shipped.

Our generative AI-powered code generation system makes this magic possible, combining reusable components of other modern apps with a global community of human developers.

We’ve crossed 7 figures in recurring revenue, ran the company at a profit for our first two years, and are now growing rapidly. We’re building a world-class team for this next leg of our journey, working together out of our office in downtown San Francisco.

To take Create to the next level, we raised over $3M in an oversubscribed seed round late last year — from some of the best B2B software VCs in Silicon Valley, as well as several strategic angels — and we're investing it in talent and growth.

Our co-founders, Dhruv Amin and Marcus Lowe, are seasoned, repeat-entrepreneurs with software and AI backgrounds from Stanford and MIT, respectively.

We're seeking engineers-of-all-trades.

Ultimately, we're looking for scrappy generalists — people who are energized by novel technical challenges, and excited by the idea of building something truly unique.

To be a bit more specific, we're looking for founding engineers to work on these three key areas:

Our AI code generation engine is where the magic happens, and we need someone to drive the future of the platform. This person will operate at the cutting edge of large language model (LLM) capabilities to solve novel problems  — like speeding up the rate of software development by 10x and bringing the power of product creation to everyone. (Yes, we mean everyone).

To make this possible, we’re also looking for an equally ambitious Founding Engineer who's excited to design and build the infrastructure and tools that allow anyone to harness Create's magic. After all, our mission is ambitious, and its success will require a robust, flexible, and powerful platform — one that powers both our customers' applications and Create's global developer community.

Finally, we’re bringing on a founding engineer to make our customer- and developer-facing products simple, delightful, and powerful at coordinating a growing developer community to ship products faster than any individual engineering team can accomplish on its own.

Create's founding engineers will advance generation, platform, and product.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the things you can expect to work on if you join us:

1. Design code generation systems that generate and ship 70%+ of all customer feature requests to production instantly.
2. Engineer around the cutting edge of open LLMs to autonomously develop software features and augment our developer community. .
3. Design systems that can apply automated, ongoing code updates to a growing fleet of customer applications.
4. Supercharge developers by building dev tooling and infrastructure for our global developer community.
5. Automate deployment  of a fleet of hundreds of heterogeneous production customer applications by designing key systems and infrastructure.
6. Empower our developer community to achieve 10x faster product delivery timelines than traditional side-by-side teams through robust task routing systems
7. Make Create the easiest and fastest way to turn customer ideas into actionable engineering work by building delightful and intelligent spec-ing, scoping, and recommendation features.
8. Drive rapid growth and adoption of our products through design of an understandable usage-based pricing system that aligns incentives between customer timelines, code generation, and developer activities.

To be considered for this position, you should have:

• 4+ years of production experience shipping code at a tech, AI, developer tools, infra, or product-led company
• Strong backend development experience with Typescript, Python, or Go

You'll really catch our attention if you have:

• Deep expertise in the following technologies: Typescript, Postgres, GraphQL, REST, Docker
• Started a company or joined a previous team as a founding engineer
• Experience building:
• projects using LLMs
• developer CLIs
• with AWS
• at a dev tools company
• Master's degree or PhD in AI
• Hands-on experience with (or a demonstrated interest in) code generation, automated software development, and modern applied AI
• Experience automating infrastructure and cloud services using Infrastructure-as-a-Code tools (e.g. Terraform)
• Experience with container provisioning (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
