How Pleo scaled on-call
As Pleo scaled to more than 150 engineers, they needed to transform how they supported their increasingly complex infrastructure. Braedon Gough, SRE at Pleo, will be sharing successes and failures while transitioning from a single on-call schedule to supporting all engineering teams on-call.
By August 2022, Pleo had finished training and onboarding all product teams needed to work on-call for the services they provided. Since then, they’ve realized a tremendous positive impact on engineering culture and a dramatic workload reduction on their SRE team. Making this transition was difficult and took months of hard work and planning. Although in the end it was a success, they made many mistakes along the way.
