What is Sclar?

Scalr is a Terraform / Opentofu Automation and COllaboration (TACO) product, used to better collaboration and automation on infrastructure and configurations managed by Terraform and Opentofu.

Profile

Scalr is a Terraform Automation and Collaboration (TACO) product designed to execute Terraform or OpenTofu operations and store state directly within Scalr. This centralized approach enables seamless collaboration across your organization. Existing GitOps or native Terraform/OpenTofu CLI workflows can be easily onboarded into Scalr with minimal or no changes to your existing code.

Focus

Scalr helps platform teams and end users adopt and integrate Terraform and OpenTofu into their organizations. It simplifies workflows and enhances usability, making it easier to manage infrastructure as code.

Background

Launched in 2011 as a cloud management tool, Scalr pivoted in 2019 to focus on infrastructure-as-code (IaC) as the next generation of infrastructure management. It became the first TACO platform to fully support Terraform CLI workflows outside of Terraform Cloud (TFC) and Enterprise (TFE).
